Settings

Settings make the app match your life — profile, theme, language, notifications, and integrations. Change one thing at a time so you know what helped.

💬 Buddy Tip

Fix language and notifications early; leave exotic integrations until logging is a habit.

🎯 Today's Mission

Open Menu → Settings; confirm language and notification preferences match how you actually live.

WHY?

Why this matters

Defaults that fight your routine create silent churn. Wrong language, noisy alerts, or dark theme eye-strain all reduce logging — the one habit that feeds everything else.

Profile basics (weight, goals, preferences) shape coaching relevance. Keep them current when life changes, especially at monthly review.

Integrations are optional context. They should not distract from Foodiary honesty in month one.

Theme and type size (where available) affect whether you open the app at night. Comfort is adherence infrastructure.

WHAT?

What to understand

Common Settings areas.

  1. 1

Profile — body stats, goals, dietary preferences

  2. 2

    Theme — visual comfort

  3. 3

Language — EN / DE / FI and whatever the app offers

  4. 4

Notifications — reminders that coach, not nag

  5. 5

Integrations — health sources when you are ready

Myth
More integrations immediately make Progress smarter.

Truth: Honest meals and weigh-ins teach more early on. Add sources when they reduce friction.

Myth
I should rebuild my profile weekly.

Truth: Update when reality changes — not as a procrastination ritual.

HOW?

How to do this in real life

A calm Settings pass.

  1. 1

    Open Menu → Settings

  2. 2

Confirm profile goal still matches this month’s theme

  3. 3

    Set language and theme

  4. 4

    Enable only notifications you’ll respect

  5. 5

Connect at most one integration if needed; verify sync

  6. 6

Return to Home and log — Settings are support, not the product

How Buddy helps

Settings tune Buddy’s environment so coaching feels personal. The diary and Progress still do the heavy learning.

Notifications that work

Prefer meal-time nudges you chose over constant streaks panic. If you mute everything, set a calendar reminder instead — rituals need a cue.

Integrations hygiene

Revoke unused grants. Wearable burn is context, not automatic truth — keep logging food regardless.

After a life change

New job hours, a new goal, pregnancy, injury, or a long trip: update profile notes and notification timing. Then return to the logging ritual—settings support the habit, they do not replace it.
