Meal Plan
Meal Plan holds intent — meals you mean to eat. It is not the live diary. Log what actually happens on Home when you eat.
Plan realistic dinners you can cook on a Tuesday. Then shop that list — not a fantasy cookbook.
Add two realistic dinners to Meal Plan for the coming days; log today’s actual meals on Home as usual.
Why this matters
Planning reduces decision fatigue and supports protein/fibre consistency. Without a plan, evenings default to whatever is fastest.
Confusion between plan and diary breaks Progress. If you only “plan” and never log intake, trends stay empty. If you log the plan instead of reality, trends lie.
Shopping helpers (when available) work best from a short, honest plan — not twenty unused recipes.
A plan also protects protein on busy weeks: when dinner is pre-decided, you are less likely to skip the anchor and snack randomly later.
What to understand
What Meal Plan is for.
- 1
Browse and add planned meals
- 2
Keep plans lighter than your ambition
- 3
Use shopping helpers when offered
- 4
Treat plan changes as normal
- 5
Always log actual intake separately on Home
Truth: Intent ≠ intake. Capture eating on Home / Foodiary.
Truth: Update the plan. It’s a tool, not a contract you can breach.
How to do this in real life
Connect plan → shop → cook → log.
- 1
Open Meal Plan tab
- 2
Add a few dinners and a default lunch idea
- 3
Generate or write a shop list from those meals
- 4
Cook/eat
- 5
Log the real plate on Home (voice/camera/text)
- 6
Adjust next week’s plan based on what you actually repeated
Meal Plan reduces weekday chaos. Buddy logging keeps Progress tied to reality so coaching stays grounded.
Keep plan and diary distinct
Ask: “Am I deciding future food, or recording past food?” Future → Meal Plan. Past/present → Home/Foodiary.
Family planning
Plan shared bases; customise portions per person. One plan can support Scale Health Success at home.
Plan light, shop hard
If time is short, plan only dinners and keep breakfast/lunch as standing defaults. The shop list should still prioritise protein and plants for those defaults.
Common mistakes
-
“I filled Meal Plan and wondered why Progress was zero.”
No intake logs. Log meals when eaten.
-
“I copied the plan into Foodiary without eating it.”
That invents adherence. Only log what you consumed.
-
“My plan had seven new recipes; I cooked none.”
Shrink to repeats. Novelty is optional.
A small plan you follow most nights beats a beautiful plan you admire. Intent first, honesty always.
