Water
Water is recovery work. Hydration supports energy, digestion, training, and clearer thinking — and it is one of the easiest daily wins to log.
Front-load a glass in the morning and pair water with each meal so you are not playing catch-up at 9pm.
Log water on Home with your meals today — aim for steady sips, not a late chug.
Why this matters
Mild dehydration often feels like fatigue, headaches, or snacky hunger. People reach for food when a glass of water and a pause would have helped. Hydration will not replace sleep or protein — but it removes a common false signal.
Fibre needs fluid. Training needs fluid. Hot days and air travel increase needs. A fixed “eight glasses” myth is less useful than responsive drinking plus pale-straw urine as a rough guide (medications and vitamins can change colour).
Logging water builds the same honesty muscle as logging food. It is a low-stakes way to keep the daily ritual alive.
What to understand
Hydration basics without wellness theatre.
- 1
Drink across the day; huge late boluses mostly mean night bathroom trips
- 2
Thirst, climate, sweat, and diet (salty/high-fibre) change needs
- 3
Tea and coffee contribute fluid for most people; alcohol dehydrates relatively
- 4
Electrolytes matter more in heavy sweat or long endurance — not every office day
- 5
Water logging is a habit cue, not a competition
Truth: Sometimes true, not always. Check water, then check protein/fibre timing — both matter.
Truth: Unsweetened tea/coffee generally count toward fluid. Sugary drinks add energy you should log as intake.
How to do this in real life
Attach water to existing routines.
- 1
Glass on waking; water visible at your desk or bag
- 2
Drink with each logged meal
- 3
Use Home’s water quick action so hydration stays in the same daily desk
- 4
On training days, drink before you feel wiped — not only after
- 5
If evenings are dry-mouthed, move intake earlier rather than chugging in bed
Home water actions keep hydration next to meal logging. Recovery-minded coaching treats water as part of the Health Operating System, not an afterthought.
Scale weight and water
Higher carb or salt days hold more water. That is not instant fat. Hydration status also shifts morning weight.
Use weekly trends for fat-loss decisions; use daily water for how you feel.
Travel and heat
Planes and heat silently increase needs. Carry a bottle and order water with meals out — boring, effective.
Common mistakes
-
“I drank two litres at once to “catch up.””
Boluses are uncomfortable and poorly timed. Steady intake wins.
-
“I replaced meals with water to lose faster.”
That is restriction, not hydration strategy. It harms training and invites rebound.
-
“I ignore water because it’s not macros.”
Recovery nutrients include fluid. Feeling better improves adherence to everything else.
Sip through the day and log it without drama. Hydration is one of the kindest habits you can automate.
